US-31 Culvert Replacement

Anlaan Corporation was awarded the replacement of an existing culvert connecting to Smith’s Bayou under US-31 in Ottawa County, MI. To maintain the primary thoroughfare along West Michigan’s lake shore, construction efforts focused on minimizing the interruptions to US-31 traffic for the complete replacement of the Culvert. During a 7-day outage, US-31 was excavated across the full width of the roadway and the existing 36” culvert was replaced with a 12’ x 15’ precast concrete box culvert totaling 170’ in length.Throughout the outage, over 10,000 cubic yards of materials were excavated and placed, the culvert was replaced, and the road was repaved and opened to traffic.
