M-30 Over Tobacco River Temporary Bridge Construction

Gladwin County Bridge Project

In response to the catastrophic flood on May 19, 2020, that resulted in the collapse of M-30 Bridge the Michigan Department of Transportation began their search for a resolution. The project was later awarded to Anlaan Corporation in late November. By utilizing a pre-engineered modular temporary bridge, construction was able to start within a month after the contract was awarded. Despite the harsh winter weather, remediation efforts took place to reshape the area the Edenville Dam once was, abutments were built, and the temporary bridge was assembled onsite and moved into place with a span of over 230 feet. Within a year of the Edenville Dam failure, M-30 was reopened to traffic until a new structure could be fully designed and later replace the temporary bridge.
