The scope of this project included the reconstruction of the I-196/I-96 interchange. Each of the two bridges that were built during the reconstruction span more than two hundred feet and required multiple cranes to erect the 800 tons of curved structural steel. Over 7.5 million cubic yards of dirt were moved to create this new interchange, along with a wick drainage system and pre-load to control settlement. Sixteen-inch piles were driven to support each abutment, totaling over 17,000 feet. Innovative construction methods were used throughout the project by both Anlaan and our earthwork partner to maintain and complete the project on an accelerated schedule.
